A man was arrested after firing several shots near a daycare center in DeSoto on Monday evening. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of N. Hampton Rd. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jazion Lederrick Williams hiding near the daycare.
When approached by police, Williams fled and jumped over the daycare fence in an attempt to escape. Authorities then deployed a drone and K-9 units to assist in locating him. The drone eventually spotted Williams, leading to his arrest near Chattey Road.
During the arrest, officers discovered a backpack that Williams had been carrying, which contained an AR-15-style pistol. According to the police report, DeSoto PD recovered 15 spent rifle casings from the playground area of the daycare where Williams had initially been found.
Williams now faces charges of evading arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
