31-year-old model, Maleesa Mooney, was discovered beaten, tied up, and put into a refrigerator of her apartment in downtown Los Angeles.
Now, 41-year-old Magnus Daniel Humphrey, of Minnesota, has been apprehended in her death.
Humphrey was taken into custody at his residence in Minnesota for an unrelated warrant and had already been on probation for federal narcotics offenses.
Authorities say that Humphrey has agreed to be extradited to Los Angeles to address murder and torture charges in the death of Mooney.
On September 12, Mooney was discovered in her apartment by authorities who had gone to do a welfare check. This came after relatives hadn’t talked to her. The building manager had provided a key for officers to get inside of her residence. Then, they located her body inside the refrigerator.
Blood had been coming from under the refrigerator, and her body was located inside. It had been tied up with electric cords and clothing. A piece of cloth was found stuffed in her mouth, and some other items had been put over her head.
Mooney had blunt force wounds and bruises and cuts on her face, head, back, and upper left arm. One of her ribs was broken, as well.
Money’s cause of death was listed as “homicidal violence,” and she had possibly been asphyxiated.
It isn’t known how Humphrey came to be a suspect.
