Man Arrested for Garland Crash That Left a 13-Year-Old Dead and a 37-Year-Old Critically Injured
A Frisco man has been arrested and charged after driving head-on into traffic, causing a fiery crash that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl.
The driver, 30-year-old Jeremy Spencer, was charged with two counts of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle causing Serious Bodily Injury and Intoxication Manslaughter.
Garland Police responded to the scene on Castle Drive and Toler Road Friday evening around 5 p.m. where they found a black pickup truck and a gray SUV crashed. The SUV, occupied by a 37-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, had caught fire. Both victims were transported to the hospital.
Traffic Investigators determined that the pickup truck traveling northbound on Castle Drive, crossed the center median and crashed into the SUV which was traveling southbound.
Spencer, the driver of the pickup truck, remained on the scene and was believed to have been impaired. Officers placed him under arrest and later transported him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The 13-year-old succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on Saturday, September 10.
The 37-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
Spencer is currently in the Garland Detention Center.
