On Wednesday a Utah man admitted to attempted kidnap and rape of a 10 year old girl.
According to reports Richard Rodney Palmer,45 admitted in the 2nd District court that he spotted the girl around 8:30pm on August 27 at a gas station.
Palmer says he followed the girl out the store as she rode her bike. He then let the girl pass him on the sidewalk and grabbed her by her neck.
The young girl began screaming and kicking causing Palmer to let her go and flee the scene.
The young girl went home and told her mother who then contacted police.
Palmer was later arrested in Roy City and charged with attempted child kidnapping and attempted child rape.
During the interview Palmer told police that he was attracted to the girl and his plan was to take her to the backyard of a vacant house where he stopped her “to have sex with her or something.”
He remains in Weber County Jail without bond.
