25-year-old Ranier Figueroa has been apprehended after authorities say that he shot an architecture student. This comes after he stole $1 from him, last month, in Miami Beach, Florida.

On Thursday, Figueroa was taken into custody, in Miami Springs, in relation to a July 21 shooting.

Authorities say that the victim and his friend were sitting on steps of a building. The suspect then walked by them and requested a dollar.

As they attempted to give the man a dollar, the man took out a gun attached with a laser and demanded all of their things. He then shot the victim and took $1 from him and the friend’s wallet before fleeing.

The 25-year-old victim was placed in a medically induced coma and remains in the hospital in stable condition. His relatives say that he is studying architecture in Argentina but came to South Florida for work.

Tips and technology led authorities to finding Figueroa at a hotel. He had been charged with attempted murder and armed robbery and is being held without bond.
