Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a man for the death of a Sheriff’s deputy from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.

TBI special agents began investigating the death of Savanna Puckett, 22, after Puckett was found dead by her colleagues. Puckett was shot after she was extinguishing a fire inside her home in Springfield.

During the investigation, agents found incriminating evidence that lead them to James Jackson Conn, 27. Conn was an acquaintance of Puckett and the person responsible for her death and the fire in her home.

On Monday morning, TBI agents, Rutherford County deputies, and Smyrna Police officers arrived at Conn’s home to execute a search warrant. After an hours-long standoff, SWAT officers entered the home and arrested Conn without incident.

Conn was charged with one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Arson. He is currently being held without bond.
