Man Arrested After Girlfriend Goes Over Cliff Following Rejection Of Marriage Proposal

A man has been jailed after accusations that he threw his girlfriend off of a cliff- top, leading to her death.

Nizamitten Gursu has been apprehended for the death of his girlfriend, Yesim Demir who is said to have fallen 100 feet to her death in the Turkish city of Canakkale.

The apprehension was made 5 months after Yesim’s fatal fall. Gursu had first told authorities that Yesim had accepted his proposal, he then left her at the cliff’s edge to get food and beverages, and then he heard her yell. He stated that he went back and discovered that she had gone over the ledge.

But authorities say that as they were investigating, they believe that Yesim rejected the proposal and a struggle began. It eventually led to her going over the cliff, falling to her death.

Police say that Gursu still had the ring box enclosed in his pocket. They also discovered a broken speaker and broken glass in the area where the July 6 proposal happened.

Reports also indicate that Yesim told relatives that she was planning to break up with Gursu, and they say she would have never taken him up on his proposal. They added that she wouldn’t have stood at the edge of the cliff voluntarily because she experienced panic attacks.

Gursu is still jailed as he awaits trial.
