On May 14, 29-year-old Patrice Latoya Wilson, a nurse and mother, was discovered shot to death, in her vehicle, after being abducted.
36-year-old Jamere Miller has been accused of kidnapping her on Saturday morning, close to 7:40 a.m., in Detroit.
Police say that Miller took Wilson as she was leaving work after an overnight shift at a medical facility. She had been entering her vehicle when Miller entered, as well, and made her move over and drove off as they both were in the car.
Roslind Livingston, Wilson’s mother, stated that as the search for her daughter had gone on, she had gotten a call from somebody who said that they had spoken with Wilson on the phone. Then, she heard yelling before the phone had gone dead.
Livingston added that Miller was Wilson’s controlling former boyfriend that couldn’t seem to let her go.
On Sunday afternoon, Miller surrendered to authorities after “feeling pressure.”
A motive for the killing isn’t clear, but an investigation is continuing.
