A man in North Carolina unintentionally purchased two lottery tickets that were exactly the same in the same lottery drawing.
Surprisingly, he won two $25,000 a year for life prizes.
49 year-old Scotty Thomas, a dump truck operator from Fayetteville, stated that he couldn’t recall if he had bought a ticket in the Saturday’s Lucky For Life drawing, at first.
So he filled out another ticket. The following morning, his son questioned why he had two different amounts listed.
That’s when he figured out he must have played twice. He had bought the $2 tickets on the internet.
“When I realized I had won, I had to lie down on the floor because I just couldn’t believe it. It is a blessing!” the man exclaimed.
Thomas chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment for both of the winnings. The total amounts to $780,000.
He said that the money will go towards his business, pay off debt, assist his family, and possibly buy a house.
