Local Houston Gospel Singer Killed During Officer Involved Shooting

A man was killed Friday during a traffic stop with Houston police.
According to reports Adrian Medearis,48 was speeding at high speeds when officer Ramos pulled him over at Esplanade and noticed he had been drinking.
The officer administered a field sobriety test and determined the man was intoxicated and attempted to arrest the man.
During the arrest the officer and suspect got into a tussle and the officer pulled out his taser and fired it.
The suspect then took the taser from the officer somehow and officer Ramos fired his weapon several times striking Medearis.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
It was later said that Medearis was the founder of the contemporary choir, God’s Anointed People and he was also a director for the PVAMU BSM gospel choir where he connected with many Houston artists.
The shooting is being investigated by Houston PD Special Investigations Unit and Internal Affairs.
