On October 19, a civil lawsuit was filed in Beaufort County, S.C., after a cell phone worker was said to have stolen images from customers’ phones in 2022.
James Tu, a worker of an authorized T-Mobile dealer, is accused of stealing comprising pictures of a customer’s wife and child. He was supposed to be transferring data from the customer’s original phone to another phone. He is then said to have uploaded the images online.
Documents show that the complainant saw other pictures from various people on Tu’s phone and believed they were stolen, as well.
The complainant has now sued Tu and an authorized dealer of T-Mobile, Lipsey Communications, LLC. This is for punitive and general damages for invasion of privacy and mental anguish and embarrassment.
Tu was apprehended in 2022 and has been charged with Computer Crime Act and obtaining signatures or property under false pretenses. His bond was set at $25,000.
A trial is now pending.
