Larry Jenkins Sentenced To Life In Prison Without Parole For The 2019 Murder Of Former NBA Star Andre Emmett
A Dallas County jury found Larry Jenkins guilty of capital murder Friday morning for the 2019 slaying of former NBA star Andre Emmett.
Testimony regarding the capital murder case wrapped up relatively quick Thursday as the jury was handed the case. Deliberations rolled over into Friday morning and a verdict was reached shortly after 11 a.m.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty for Jenkins in this case so he automatically was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
A credible witness told authorities that although there were two other men with Jenkins, he was the actual shooter.
Michael Lucky and Keith Johnson were also charged with capital murder in Emmett’s death.
The attempted robbery/ fatal shooting happened September of 2019 when Emmett was sitting outside his home in his vehicle and two men approached him. As the men attempted to rob Emmett he tried to run but was shot.
Surveillance footage outside his residence caught his final moments and he was found shot by a passerby not far from his home.
Emmett played for the Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets.
