Two men have been charged with kidnapping after a man walked into a bank and gave the teller a note that stated, “Keep me safe.”
Authorities in Newnan, Georgia, say that they answered a call to a Wells Fargo and swiftly stopped the suspects down the street, last week. Their apprehension was captured on surveillance footage and was released on Wednesday.
Deputies talked to the abduction victim who stated that two men, Gabriel Lawrence, 33, and Terrence McPherson, 38, had picked him up. This was after they questioned him about making extra money.
The men traveled around Atlanta as the victim attempted to get out of the vehicle on two occasions. However, he was able to get out because the child safety lock had been activated.
The men later arrived to a gas station. After going inside, Lawrence exited the store with a $1,467 check and gave it to the victim.
The victim was instructed to go inside of the bank, cash the check, exit out, and provide a signal, indicating that he had cashed the check.
However, when the victim went inside, he begged for help in a note and gave it to the teller.
McPherson and Lawrence were apprehended and charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping, fourth-degree forgery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
McPherson faces additional charges of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
