A man saved a kidnapped woman who was being held captive Saturday afternoon. The 36 year old woman was handcuffed and chained inside of a vacant home in Chicago.
Antione Dobine was passing by an intersection near the the abandoned property when he heard someone screaming and banging on a window. Dobine immediately called the police and waited for them to come.
When they arrived, they discovered the woman, handcuffed and chained, in an upstairs bedroom. Officers freed her, then sent her to a local hospital for treatment. They are investigating the crime as a sexual assault and a kidnapping.
Following the release of information regarding the case, community members have called on the city to take action. Residents are persistent that city officials need to address the issue of abandoned housing.
“We have to do something,” One community member said. “When a person comes to this neighborhood it’s the first thing they see. Grass all the way up, properties that people aren’t taking care of, and in their minds they say ‘oh, this is a good place to stash somebody.”
The woman found in the abandoned house was released from the hospital Sunday morning.
The search continues for the suspect who kept her captive.
