On July 21, 2024, Sergeant II Daniel Van Huss died after being injured in a motorcycle wreck, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office noted.
Huss had been with the department since 2009 and started as a deputy in 2011. In 2013, he earned the title of Corporal and then Sergeant in that year, as well.
Huss continued to work in several areas within the department throughout the years. These included the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), DEA Task Force, and the Street Crimes Unit.
On July 15, 2024, Huss earned the rank of Sergeant II.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office has offered their thoughts and prayers to his family.
