A mother from Maryland, Talecka Brown, 32, has been denied bail after being accused of shooting her 13 year old daughter earlier this week.

She faces charges of attempted murder for the incident that occurred on Monday afternoon at their home in Seat Pleasant.

Authorities arrived at the residence to find the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to her neck. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where she is currently in the ICU.

Reports indicate that the girl told police she and her mother had an argument after she returned home from school, which escalated into a physical confrontation. Following the altercation, the girl began to descend the stairs when she heard a gunshot and collapsed at the bottom, unable to move. Her mother allegedly instructed her to claim that someone had broken into the house and shot her.

After questioning Brown, law enforcement officials arrested her and charged her with first-degree attempted murder, among other offenses. Court documents reveal that she provided inconsistent statements during her police interview, ultimately confessing that she was alone at home with her daughter when the shooting occurred.
