On Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones was ordered to take a paternity test. This comes after a woman had filed a lawsuit stating that she was Jones’s daughter.
The woman, Alexandra Davis, says that Jones, Donald Jack, the attorney, and consultant Jim Wilkinson depicted her as an “extortionist.” She made the claim in a refiled defamation complaint.
Kris Hayes, Davis’s attorney, celebrated the victory for the family.
Judge Sandra Jackson of the 302nd District Court is overseeing the legal matter.
“Judge Jackson is a true judge of the people. She listened to the facts of the case and followed the law perfectly. Her ruling proves that being a rich, powerful person does not mean you are above the law,” Hayes wrote in a statement.
Due to the ruling, Hayes stated that Davis can now possibly get the peace that is owed to her.
“…she has given a voice to all children in her position. She has done it with grace and humility,” Hayes continued.
Last October, U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Schroeder III, who presides over a Texarkana court in the Eastern District of Texas, had dropped the defamation suit by Davis.
But, the judge allowed Davis’s lawyers the chance to refile the suit. This is where they accused Jones, Jack, and Wilkinson of making defamatory comments about her following her claims that Jerry is her father.
In March 2022, Davis had first filed a lawsuit against Jones. She had requested to be named as his biological daughter. The lawsuit was in regards to statements made in court documents, an affidavit written by Jack recalling talking with Davis and articles discussing the paternity case that came from ESPN.
