Innocent Bystander Struck In Chest By Stray Bullet In Uptown

An innocent bystander was shot early
Monday morning in Uptown.
The incident happened around 1:56am when a Dallas police sergeant was patrolling the Uptown area and heard multiple gunshots.
While responding to the shots fired he noticed a man with a gun fleeing the scene on foot.
A small chase ensued between the officer and suspect.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody and a handgun was recovered.
Shortly after officers received a call regarding a shooting on the 2800 block of McKinney Ave.
Upon arrival they noticed a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
It is believed the victim was struck while the suspect was shooting at a car traveling south on McKinney Ave.
This investigation is ongoing.
