Hurricane Helene Has Claimed The Lives of More Than 25 People

At least 28 individuals have lost their lives across four states following the landfall of Hurricane Helene, which swept inland with strong winds and heavy rain.The fatalities include 11 in Georgia, seven in Florida, eight in South Carolina, and two in North Carolina.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp confirmed the 11 deaths in his state, noting that one victim was a first responder.

Additional information regarding the victims has not been released at this time.

Hurricane Helene made landfall last night near Perry, Florida, as a powerful Category 4 storm with winds reaching up to 140 mph.

The hurricane caused significant damage to homes and businesses while leaving millions without power.

Many regions are still under evacuation orders or remain difficult to access, with roads blocked by water and debris as first responders work to assist those in need.
