Authorities in Jacksonville, Florida, are investigating after human remains were discovered buried in the backyard of a Florida residence on Wednesday night.
The remains were located at a residence on Sunny Acres Drive East at about 6:48 p.m.
Reports indicate that two feet were observed “sticking up out of the ground” when officers arrived to the residence.
The homeowner was said to have been doing yard work when he found “toes sticking out of the ground,”a woman who was assisting him stated.
“We were working inside the house, and then the homeowner came to us and said, ‘Hey, there’s something here. We have to call 911.’ I said, ‘Ok.’ I was shook,” the woman who did not want to be identified reported.
“They were all black and stuff. But I guess that was from decomposing,” the woman stated. I just hope that everything gets solved. My reaction to this is just craziness. I would never expect this especially at a house that I am working at.”
Officers and investigators are continuing to work the scene as the remains have been extricated. The occurrence will be pending until the medical examiner’s office can figure out the cause of death.
