HR Exec Destroyed 17K Resumes Along With Personnel Data After Being Fired

A fired HR executive deleted 17k resumes and destroyed the company’s personnel files.
Medghyne Calonge, 41, of Tampa is facing charges of destroying personnel files and deleting thousands of resumes.
This incident happened back in June of 2019.
Prosecutors says fellow employees witnessed her actions after she received her pink slip.
Calonge was working for 1-800-Accountant in which she was working for only 6 months.
Poor performance led to her departure.
According to court documents, the company spent upwards of $300,000 on building the system that Calonge destroyed.
The company had to spend an additional $100,000 to get the system back up and running again.
However, many files were unable to be retrieved and were lost forever.
Calonge was convicted of 2 counts of damaging computers.
She faces up to 15 years when she is sentenced on December 2.
Calonge was previously convicted of forgery in Florida in 2008 and was arrested in 2002 for writing a bad check.
