Angela Lansbury, the Hollywood legend, well-known for “Murder, She Wrote,” and as the voice of Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast,” has passed away.
According to a statement released by her family, Angela passed away on Tuesday, at her residence, in L.A. They added that she died in her sleep at 1:30 a.m.
Despite being famous for her part as murder mystery Jessica Fletcher on the hit “Murder, She Wrote,” Angela was a great actress on stage before that.
The British-born actress was the recipient of 5 Tony Awards as she played a role in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, “Gypsy,” and “Dear World.” Her 6th Tony was given to her as a Lifetime Achievement.
“Murder, She Wrote” was on CBS for 12 seasons, from 1984 to 1996. It was the network’s biggest production during that time. Lansbury had gotten 12 Emmy nominations for the part that she played.
Angela is survived by her thee children, three grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and brother.
She was 96.
