Dennis Barnes, a senior at International High School of New Orleans, has broken a record. This came as he has been accepted to 170 colleges and universities and has been offered over $9 million in scholarships.

Barnes sent applications to 200 institutions. He will announce what school he has chosen to attend on May 2.

Barnes is 16 years old and was granted the ability to be promoted to 10th and 11th grade early.

Because of the number of offers he has received, he has broken the Guiness Book of World Records. That record was held by another high school senior in Louisiana. That person had generated $8.7 million in scholarships in 2019.

Barnes has said that his goal is to get up to $10 million in scholarships by the end of the month.

Dennis has many accolades that he can add to his achievements, as well. This includes maintaining a 4.98 cumulative grade point average, being a dual credit student, being fluent in Spanish, and being a member of the National Honor Society.

“The road to a successful future is to plan ahead. Network with collegiate partners, and know that if you can see your vision, you can achieve your goal,” Barnes expressed.
