High School Baseball Player Considered Brain Dead After Being Unintentionally Struck In Head By Bat

Jeremy Medina, a high school baseball player, is considered brain dead after a batting cage incident occurred last month.

Medina, a pitcher and catcher for the Gainesville High School baseball team, in Georgia, was unintentionally struck in the head by a baseball bat on Nov. 20 inside of the school’s batting cages.

The high school senior has been in a coma since the accident happened.

On Wednesday, physicians and relatives announced that Medina is brain dead, and his organs will be donated.

“The life of Jeremy Medina will forever impact the lives of our entire community. His passing will mean renewed life for many others as an organ donor. Please continue to pray for the Medina family,” Gainesville school officials stated.

There will be an honor walk and celebration of Medina’s life at a later date.
