Health Inspectors Close One Fort Worth Restaurant; Rodent Droppings Discovered At Steakhouse

When Fort Worth, Texas, health inspectors conducted a round of inspections, they closed one restaurant while another was found with rodent droppings.

From Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, the city inspected 157 restaurants.

In Fort Worth, restaurants are evaluated according to demerits. A score of 0 is the best as a score of 30 or higher means that the restaurant must fix the most critical health code violations right away. This would be followed up by another inspection.

On Jan. 5, inspectors closed Rooster’s Gathering Hole at 6001 N. Main St. The restaurant received a score of 33 after it was discovered that food was being improperly stored. They also found that some workers hadn’t completed their food handling courses. Additionally, a household refrigerator was discovered in the kitchen. The next day, the restaurant opened again after a follow-up inspection.

On Dec. 30, when inspectors went to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in downtown Ft. Worth, rodent droppings were found in the storage location below the shelves. Later that day, another inspection found that the issue had been fixed.

Then, at Heim’s BBQ on Magnolia Ave., inspectors documented that continuous violations for lacking a certified food protection manager could lead to legal action.

There are 11 other restaurants in Fort Worth that received demerit scores ranging from 25 to 35. These include Enchiladas Ole, Los Tacos HS, Taco Heads, Joe T. Garcia’s Mexican Dishes, Taqueria Temo, El Mil Tacos, JS Burgers, Shaws Patio Bar & Grill, West Side Cafe, Mr. Pollo, and Tacos Chihuas.
