Google Creates Privacy Changes, Limiting Android App Tracking

805views

On Wednesday, Google stated that they will
have new privacy guidelines, called Privacy Sandbox. It will curtail tracking through apps on its Android devices. This is something that resembles what Apple did, last year, that ended many companies’ marketing practices.

Google is creating new privacy-centered replacements for its advertising IDs. This is a special string of characters that recognizes a user’s device. The digital identifications are in smartphones and usually assist ad-tech businesses in tracking and swapping information about buyers.

Many companies depend on tracking users through apps, such as Meta (Facebook). Therefore, this, “Privacy Sandbox,” could have a big impact on them financially. It was  reported that Apple’s privacy modifications, alone, will lessen the sales of Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube by $10 billion this year.

However, Meta is supporting the way Google’s new restrictions are being put into place. “It’s encouraging to see this long-term, collaborative approach to privacy-protective personalized advertising from Google,” they noted.

Google will still use current identifiers for the next two years.
