On Wednesday, good samaritan Mindy Jordan observed a woman in her ’80s putting thousands of dollars into a Bitcoin machine at a Chevron gas station. This was close to I-30 in White Settlement, Texas.

Thus, Jordan decided to do something about it.

“She’s all bent down trying to put hundreds of dollar bills in,” stated Jordan of the occurrence that happened on June 12. “And I could hear the people on the phone, and I’m like, ‘Ma’am, do you know these people?’ and she’s like no.”

Jordan knew immediately that the woman was being scammed.

“The lady was just like really, really scared. She had $44,000 cash money in her hands. “I said, Ma’am, I believe you’re being scammed. And she said, “No, no, no,  it’s the bank. I got to pay this back.”

After unsuccessfully convincing the woman, Jordan called authorities a little while later. Sgt. James Stewart arrived to the location with his body camera capturing the woman who was terrified.

In the recording, the woman told Stewart that she had been put into danger. Then, Stewart gets her phone and starts questioning the scammer, even calling him a moron.

“This woman was just a couple of years older than my own mom, and I couldn’t imagine someone doing this to her,” Stewart reported.

Together, Jordan and Stewart were able to save the woman thousands of dollars.

“We got her her money back. Only thing that made it better would be to put him in jail,” Stewart stated.
