A TikToker is upset after his girlfriend was sold a PS5 by a scammer, and viewers are outraged.
An uploaded recording shows police officers being called to the scene of an alleged incident between the seller and the purchaser. It has been seen more than 1 million times.
In the video, @theotherbrand shows a man saying, “This is what happens. You buy sh– on OfferUp, and they try to sell you a f–king stolen PlayStation 5,” the man says.
Four officers are then seen at the location of a parking lot whom he says he is ‘cool’ with.
“But her? Sh–y a– person,” the man says as he shows the supposed perpetrator.
The buyer, the TikToker’s girfriend, said that she purchased the gaming system for her boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. When they tried to connect it, a message read that they were “temporarily suspended” from utilizing the PS5. The seller had disclosed to her that it was new, and the girlfriend had paid $720 for the system.
When she contacted Sony and PlayStation, she was told that the console was flagged because the first buyer had ordered it, reported it stolen, and received a new one already.
The seller refused to return the money for the PS5, so the buyer’s brother made a new account and acted as if he wanted to purchase a pair of shoes. When they all met up again, police were there to confront the seller.
Many viewers expressed their disgust. “I think they should delete OfferUp. This app has a lot of scams and problems with items,” one person noted.”
