Georgia Officer Dead After Being Dragged by Suspect

Ansy Dolce, 29, was pulled over after suspicion of speeding in Holly Springs around 11pm on Wednesday.

Dolce tried to escape in his car and dragged Joe Burson, a 25 year-old police officer, down the road. At some point during the incident,  Burson shot Dolce. The vehicle crashed. Both men are dead.

It is not known if the crash or the shooting took place first. Investigators are still determining what events led up to the occurrence.

Detectives believe Burson died from being dragged but an investigation into his death is still pending.

Burson’s supervisor was present during the traffic stop, and many officers were close  by. They were able to get to the scene quickly and offer assistance.

Burson had been employed with Holly Springs PD for a year and a half. He leaves behind a wife and no children.

Holly Springs is 30 miles north of downtown Atlanta.
