A man in Garland has been given a 15-year prison sentence after he was discovered to have over 10,000 pieces of child sex abuse content.

In October, 45-year-old Jared Capizzi pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography, following being indicted in September of 2022. Authorities say that Capizzi had to register as a sex offender and was instructed to pay $52,500 to the child sexual abuse victims that were discovered.

Court documents show that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities about 31files of child pornography that was owned by Capizzi. Accompanied with that was a phone number related to the account that the files were uploaded to.

Officials were able to track Capizzi by his address and phone number through a parole officer after they learned that he was already on parole and out on bond for other felony crimes.

Following a search warrant being issued for Capizzi’s cell phone, over 8,000 pictures and more than 2,000 recordings of underage children engaged in sexually explicit behavior were found, police say.

When questioned by authorities, Capizzi confessed to talking to others online about child pornography. He also admitted to downloading a link that had thousands of pictures and recordings of child pornography.
