A judge in Collin County has lowered the bond for Karmelo Anthony, a teenager from Frisco charged with fatally stabbing another teen at a track meet.

The bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000 during a court hearing at 9 a.m. Monday morning. Anthony will be required to wear an ankle monitor and remain at his parents’ home. He has been in custody since his arrest on April 2 for allegedly stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a Frisco ISD track meet.

Witness accounts indicate that a verbal confrontation occurred between Anthony and Metcalf, after which Anthony pulled out a knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest. When officers arrived, Anthony followed their instructions and was taken into custody. While being transported in the police vehicle, he reportedly asked an officer about Metcalf’s condition and whether his actions could be considered self-defense.

Anthony was the captain of the football and track teams, and he had never been arrested before this incident. He has worked at Foot Locker for two years and worked a second job at H-E-B.
