Fort Worth Police Nab Suspect in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Incident

The Fort Worth police are investigating what they believe to be a murder-for-hire that occurred over the weekend.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of Covert Avenue, at around 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a victim with gunshot wounds in an alley. The victim, a 30-year-old named Martin Diaz, was declared dead at the scene.

According to reports, Luis Gomez de la Cruz is suspected of shooting Diaz for a payment that ranged between $10,000 and $15,000.

Gomez de la Cruz was taken into custody and booked at the Tarrant County Jail on Tuesday, facing a capital murder charge. He is currently being held on a bond of $500,000.

The identity of the person who allegedly arranged the payment for Diaz’s murder has not been disclosed, and Fort Worth police state that this individual has not been apprehended yet.
