An 18-year-old male swimming with family at Waxahachie lake went under and never resurfaced over the weekend.
Waxahachie Police and Fire-Rescue teams were dispatched to the lake at around 1 p.m. on Saturday.
When they arrived, family members informed them of their 18-year-old relative who went swimming hundreds of yards off-shore and suddenly went under.
Unfortunately, the teen, originally from Forney, never resurfaced. Officials have addressed the situation as a drowning.
Recovery operations are still in effect as they search for the 18-year-old’s body.
