Herman Cain a 2012 running candidate and former CEO of Godfather pizza has died from the Coronavirus, via a post from his Twitter account Thursday morning.
Cain,74 was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this month and it is unclear where he contracted it from.
He was at a Trump campaign rally in Oklahoma on June 20 in which he was amongst thousands of people without a face covering and not social distancing.
Cain was also considered an increased risk for coronavirus due to his age and history with cancer.
Cain was one of the highest profile public figures in the United States to have died from Covid-19.
In 2006 Cain was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer and after chemotherapy and surgery was declared cancer free in 2007.
Dan Calabrese, one of Cain’s close friends wrote on his post “We knew when he was first hospitalized with COVID-19 that this was going to be a rough fight, he had trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. We all prayed that the initial meds they gave him would get his breathing back to normal, but it became clear pretty quickly that he was in for a battle.”
Calabrese continued by saying, “We all prayed so hard every day. We knew the time would come when the Lord would call him home, but we really liked having him here with us, and we held out hope he’d have a full recovery.”
