Former President Trump Announces New Attorneys For Impeachment Trial

Donald J Trump has parted ways with his previous set of attorneys in his upcoming impeachment trial. He announced Sunday that a former county prosecutor and a criminal justice lawyer with an extensive background in civil rights work will be leading his impeachment defense team.
David Schoen, a television legal commentator, and Bruce Castor, a former district attorney from Pennsylvania, who was shamed for his role in not charging actor Bill Cosby in his sex crimes case, will be the two representing Trump.
Schoen and Castor has both released statements through the office of Trump, saying how honored they were to take on this position.
“The strength of our Constitution is about to be tested like never before in our history. It is strong and resilient. A document written for the ages, and it will triumph over partisanship yet again, and always,” stated Castor, who served as the district attorney for Montgomery County, right outside of Philadelphia, back from 2000 to 2008.
The announcement made Sunday was for the purposes of promoting a sense of stability surrounding the Trump defense team ahead of his impeachment trial. Several other lawyers from South Carolina have also been sent to represent him at the impeachment trail which is set to begin the week starting Feb. 8th.
Donald Trump has been the first president in U.S. History to be impeached twice. He is sent to stand trial in the Senate on charges that he incited his supporters to storm the U. S. Capitol on Jan 6, at which a deadly riot occurred as lawmakers were meeting to certify Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
“The Democrats’ efforts to impeach a president who has already left office is totally unconstitutional and so bad for our country,” Trump adviser Jason Miller released in a statement.
Several legal scholars are saying there is no bar to an impeachment trial despite having departed from the White House.
Castor, who is a Republican, had been elected as a district attorney in Pennsylvania, decided against bringing charges against Cosby, in an alleged 2004 sexual encounter. He ran for office again in 2015, however, his judgement in the Cosby case was a key element used against him by the Democratic opponent who defeated him.
Castor responded back saying that he personally thought Cosby should have indeed been arrested, however, the evidence against him was not strong enough to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Schoen had previously met with Jeffrey Epstein, about previously joining his defense team on his sex trafficking charges right before he killed himself in jail in New York. Schoen told news reporters that he had been approached by Roger Stone, a trump associate, before Stone’s trail and had later been retained to only handle his appeal. Trump has since then commuted his sentence and then pardoned him.
