In a supposed $1.9 million scam, the boyfriend of ex-NFL player Earl Thomas’s former wife was apprehended for stealing Thomas’s identity.

38-year-old Kevin Thompson, of New Orleans, has been identified as the person who was arrested in June. He is the boyfriend of Thomas’s former wife, Nina Thomas.

Thompson is said to have cashed Thomas’s NFL checks. He then took from his bank account and transferred car ownership for multiple cars.

Thompson has been charged with identity theft, forgery, and money laundering. He is also facing charges for credit card fraud, computer fraud, and bank fraud.

Thomas was noted for being a seven-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro. Additionally, he is a one-time Super Bowl champion.

Thomas played in the NFL from 2010-19.

Thompson is accused of using a fake driver’s license that had his picture and Thomas’s information. He used it in order to open a bank account. He then transferred auto titles, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV. He had driven that vehicle to the bank the day he was apprehended.

After transferring some of the vehicle titles, Thompson sold the cars.

It isn’t known how Thompson came into actual possession of the vehicles.

Reports indicate that Thomas’s credit union in Texas alerted authorities that someone had opened a bank account in New Orleans in Thomas’s name.

Thompson had been apprehended again when he had gone to get the Rolls Royce on June 16. He had been in a different car that had been reported stolen.

Thompson was released on a $730,000 bond.
