In spring of 2009 Corey Borner, a Desoto High school football player went in for a tackle to not walk again for 12 years.
Doctors told Borner he had suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
Borner who had to relearn life from a wheelchair became a motivational speaker.
Not thinking he was going to ever walk again, Borner put all his effort and energy into being able to walk again.
He said, “We all go through something. That’s one thing about life. But as long as you continue to stay focused and stay positive, anything is possible.”
In June while Borner was attending Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation, he took his first step in 12 years.
This past Saturday at Loos Field House in Addison Borner accepted his high school diploma along with 200 graduates at the University of North Texas at Dallas receiving their spring 2020 degrees.
