Former College Basketball Player Darius Miles Accused Of Killing Woman Who Wouldn’t Talk To Him

The mother of a 23-year-old woman from Alabama is speaking out after her daughter was fatally shot in an incident that was connected to two men. One of those men was ex-Crimson Tide basketball player Darius Miles.

On Facebook, DeCarla Cotton wrote that her daughter, Jamea Jonae Harris, was fatally shot because she wouldn’t speak to Miles.

“Took my baby life because she wouldn’t talk to him,” the mother wrote in a post.

21-year-old Miles and Michael Lynn Davis, 20, were apprehended and charged with capital murder.

“…while Darius has been accused or being involved with this tragedy, he maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court. Our firm’s own investigation is ongoing, and no further statement will be made at this time,” Miles’ lawyer noted.

A driver of the car that was carrying Harris went to campus police at around 1:45 a.m.  stating that someone had shot into their car and that they had shot back. One of the suspects was hurt and experienced non-life threatening wounds. Authorities didn’t say who was injured.

Miles was cut from the men’s basketball team after he was accused of being a part of the shooting. Earlier Saturday, it was announced that he would be out for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

Miles seemed to be crying as he was talking to someone outside of the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

‘I love you. I love you more than you can imagine,’ he could be heard saying.

Now, a GoFundMe has been created to assist in supporting Harris’ 5-year-old son.
