Logan Barr, a 23 year-old Forest Hill Police Officer, shot and killed a murder suspect in June. The Texas Rangers say the suspect was 20 feet away from Barr and was not a threat.

Now, Barr has been charged with aggravated assault by a police officer. He was arrested and nine hours later, he was released on bond.

After analyzing bodycam video, Texas Ranger Eisenhower Upshaw said police initially came on scene after a woman was stabbed by Michael Ross, Jr. She died later.

When officers demanded that he drop his knife as stood at the bottom of an embankment, he refused.

Another officer shot non-lethal shots at Ross, but he still refused.

Barr then got his shotgun, and the sergeant told him to shoot although Ross had his pants  down and wasn’t facing the officers.

As Ross turned around with his hands to his side, Barr shot him twice.
