Ford Recalls Thousands of 2014 F150 Trucks

1.1kviews

Ford is recalling over 550,000 F-150 pickup trucks from the 2014 model year due to a risk of sudden downshifting.

The issue is linked to a signal loss between the transmission speed sensor and the powertrain control computer. The mishap can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash.

The recall comes shortly after the U.S. safety regulators launched an investigation in March regarding the many complaints about abrupt downshifts.

As a solution to the recall, Ford will update the powertrain control software for free. Owners will receive a letter or notification starting in early July.

Ford has reported numerous incidents, including 52 cases of rear wheels locking or loss of control, two injuries, and one crash potentially linked to the issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is also investigating if these trucks should have been included in earlier recalls from 2016 and 2019.
