Football Fan Sues The Giants And Jets Since Teams Play In New Jersey

A football fan, Abdiell Suero, filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court. He wants the New York Giants and Jets to stop playing at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and go back to playing in New York by 2025.

Both NFL teams operate in and represent the greater New York metroplex, but they play in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

But, while they play in New York, Suero has requested that both teams be called the East Rutherford Giants/Jets.

“If the Giants and Jets want to call themselves New York teams, they need to come back to New York. I’ve traveled to and from MetLife Stadium by mass transit and car service. Both ways are a nightmare,” Suero noted.

The lawsuit is asking for $2 billion in monetary damages and $4 billion in punitive damages. The suit alleges that both teams falsely advertised and had deceptive practices. Additionally, it stated that fans of both teams have experienced “mental and emotional damages, including depression, sadness, and anxiety, as a result..”

Although the Jets haven’t made a statement regarding the lawsuit, the Giants have. They say the lawsuit “has no merit, and we will defend it vigorously.”

Since 1976, the Giants have played in East Rutherford. Previously they played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The Jets joined them in 1984 after playing in Shea Stadium in Queens prior to that.
