Food Stamp Accounts Across the U.S Will See An Increase Beginning Saturday

Nearly 42 million families in America benefit from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

They receive funds through an EBT card and are able to purchase food from grocery stores or other approved retail food locations.

But, the amount that people receive in food stamps is decided based upon a family’s size and their state.

However, people who get these services in New York may begin to see an increase in their account, starting on Saturday.

Governor Kathy Hochul stated that the program would be funded with more money. That total will include $230 million.

Under the new funds, families could receive the most benefit which is $835 for a family of four individuals.

If a family has four people already, they could receive $100 extra.

“Struggling New Yorkers continue to rely heavily on SNAP as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact everyday life…,” a statement on the governor’s website read.
