On Monday, Florida’s Governor, Ron DeSantis, stated that the state may cut the salaries of school superintendents and school board officials who require people to wear masks.
Furthermore, this comes after many school districts around the country deal with this as schools begin to reopen.
In July, DeSantis made an executive order that documents that school districts can’t make students put on masks.
However, the superintendent of Leon County, Florida, schools has gone against it. “You can’t put a price tag on someone’s life, including my salary,” he said.
Upset parents have also begun to gather at school board meetings all over the state.
The governor’s office has yet to comment on the latest statement.
Dantis’s spokesperson noted, “The governor remains opposed to requiring kids to wear masks in schools. He believes there are potential downsides to masking children 8 hours per day from a developmental, emotional, academic, and medical perspective.”
