Florence “Flo Jo” Griffith Joyner’s Husband Pays To Have Her Sports Memorabilia Returned To Him

The late Florence “Flo Jo” Griffith Joyner’s sports memorabilia was in possession of Rene Nezhoda. He is the host of the A & E show, Storage Wars.

Now, Al Joyner, a track & field Olympian and her husband, has worked out an agreement to buy back the sports items that had first belonged to Flo Jo.

Nezhoda stated that he bought the items from a thrift store in California in 2014. The owner stated that he had also bought Flo Jo’s storage locker in San Diego.

Inside of the storage were items like her Olympic jacket, autographed track shoes, rare pictures of her, and a Flo Jo barbie doll that was signed.

At first, Nezhoda stated that he was going to sell the items on Ebay. Then, he decided to offer her family a chance to buy them back. Al jumped on that opportunity.

“…this is not charity. I am making a profit. Al knows what I paid for it. He is the only person that knows how much I paid for it. I told him the profit I want to make. It’s like a track runner, you want to win,” Nezhoda said.

Al then expressed his gratitude. “Rene is great. I know that he is on a t.v. show and all that, but he really is a great guy and really warms my heart,” Al commented.

Al stated that his greatest joy is getting his late wife’s weight belt back that she utilized as they exercised together.

In 1998, Flo Jo passed away from suffocation after experiencing an epileptic seizure.
