Five Marines Killed In Aircraft Crash Identified

Five marines were killed when their aircraft crashed during a routine training in a California desert Wednesday afternoon.

Cpl. Nathan E. Carlson, 21, Capt. Nicholas P. Losapio, 31, Cpl. Seth D. Rasmuson, 21, Capt. John J. Sax, 33, and Lance Cpl. Evan A. Strickland, 19 were identified on Friday as the occupants of the Osprey Aircraft. All 5 men were based out of Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton and assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 364.

Officials have started a recovery process to retrieve equipment from the wreck.

An investigation is also underway.
