After some people have expressed concerns that Ram pickup trucks and Jeep Wagoneer SUVs lose power frequently, the U.S. auto safety regulators have begun to investigate. They are also investigating how these vehicles shift into park and push down on the emergency brake.

Per CBSNews, the vehicles were made by Stellantis, and the investigation is looking into models from the 2022 year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating about 150,000 vehicles. They’re all said to contain Stellantis’s 5.7-liter Hemi E-Torque mild hybrid system that allows the vehicles to power on its own.

The system turns the energy that it receives from braking in order to power some electrical parts. It contains a 48-volt battery pack and a motor generator that relays power to the crankshift when the gears move.

However, eight people have voiced concerns that the engines can power off, usually when the speeds are at a low range, and oftentimes, they do not start up again.

Now, investigators will review the aforementioned models to determine how often the issues occur and why the engines are powering off. A recall could be pending.

Anyone with concerns should reach out to their dealership.
