On Father’s Day, a 25-year-old dad, in Michigan, had to fight to keep his baby safe from a gunman. The incident was caught on surveillance footage.
The 7-month-old baby was unharmed and remained sleep, and someone has been placed in custody.
A cashier said that a man had rushed in, carrying a baby in his arms. He stated that he was attempting to hide.
A man then entered the Valero gas station and tried to fire his weapon. The gun jammed or malfunctioned and saved the father’s and son’s life.
“The father quickly, once he observed it, lifted his arms up and fortunately pushed the gun away. He was able to get him out of the gas station and lock the door,” said a police commander.
Authorities had released camera footage of the incident, hoping someone could identify the suspect in the felonious offense. He had been seen wearing a white tank top, tan bucket hat, and long khaki shorts.
Then, on Tuesday, Detroit police apprehended a person of interest, a few streets down from the gas station. Authorities were also granted a search warrant to look for the gun involved.
Police don’t have many details on the motive but say that some sort of dispute had taken place. The gunmen had then followed the father into the store.
