An Ohio father accidentally shot and killed his 16 year old daughter Wednesday after mistaking her for an intruder.
Authorities received a call around 4:30am regarding a shooting on Piper Bend Dr.
During the call the victim, Janae Hairston’s mother told police her husband accidentally shot their 16 year old daughter in the garage.
She was heard by the operator saying, “My husband made a mistake and shot her because he thought she was an intruder,” the mother said. “She was in our garage and my husband just didn’t know what was going on. Oh, my God.”
Authorities and emergency crews arrived to the home 6 minutes later and transported the teen to an area hospital where she later died.
No charges have been filed at this time and the case has been sent to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office for review.
