On Saturday morning, authorities in West Haven, Connecticut, tried to stop a father from attempting to drown his two children at a beach.
At about 2 a.m., a patrol officer saw an SUV stationed at Dawson Avenue Beach. As the officer went to inspect the vehicle, he heard screams.
The officer then saw a man, now identified as Romney Desronvil, 41, with two children in the water.
“As the officer entered the water, the adult male continued to drift further away with the children all while screaming at responding officers to “stay back.” It was obvious at this point that the male…was deliberately drowning his children,” authorities say.
Other officers and first responders went into the water to help, moving as far as 100 yards away from shore.
Eventually, officers were able to get the children away from the father. They carried them back to shore to administer life-saving measures prior to being transported to a medical facility.
Desronvil, who resides in Queens, was apprehended and charged with two counts of attempted homicide and risk of injury.
This is sooo sad!
