Fatal Boat Crash Survivor Suspects Attempted Cover-Up in South Carolina

1.9kviews

Lawyers for a South Carolina man who broke his jaw in a boat crash, connected to a murdered Lowcountry scion have filed a petition. They are asking to depose the officers who responded to the crash. They suspect that they and “unknown others” may have attempted to frame him.

Connor Cook was aboard a boat navigated by Paul Murdaugh when it crashed in February 2019. 19-year-old passenger Mallory Beach went overboard. She died, another young woman was bleeding heavily, and Cook broke his jaw.

Murdaugh was charged in the incident. The petition says that police and “unknown others” may have first attempted to frame Cook as the boat operator. They stated this was due to Murdaugh’s status as a member of a wealthy family with generational ties to the local prosecutor’s office.

Thus, the petition seeks phone records and an opportunity to depose several witnesses who responded to the crash.
